A specification you were never given is still a specification. The pump inside a chamber sealer is either oil-lubricated or dry whether or not anyone wrote it down, and the difference shows up as a maintenance obligation you inherit on delivery. Comparing two brands, then, is partly comparing what each is willing to put in writing before your money moves.

A counter that cannot carry 72 lb has already eliminated all three VacMasters before disclosure enters the argument. This page treats transparency as the tiebreaker it is, not as the verdict.

Seal width does not follow the brand

The VacMaster chamber buys depth where the Avid Armor bar buys width. Both the VP215 and the VP210 publish a 5-inch usable chamber height against the USV20's 3 inches, and 15.25 inches of chamber depth against 8.5. The trade is coherent rather than perverse: Avid Armor optimises for the widest pouch a small body can seal, and VacMaster optimises for the tallest and longest package a chamber can close over.

Bag compatibility splits the same way. VacMaster states 3 to 7 mil Mylar and retort pouch support on the VP215 and the VP230. Neither Avid Armor machine publishes a mil range at all, and the USV20 accepts smooth pouches only up to 11 by 10 inches. For anyone sealing thick Mylar, that is not a disclosure problem - it is a compatibility one, and it points one way.

Which brand gives you the wider seal bar?

Avid Armor, on two of the three comparisons. Both the USV32 and the USV20 carry 11.5-inch bars. Only the VP230, at 12.25 inches, is wider than an Avid Armor machine.

Can an Avid Armor machine seal the same bags as a VacMaster?

Not the thickest ones, on published data. VacMaster states 3 to 7 mil Mylar and retort pouch support for the VP215 and the VP230. Neither Avid Armor machine publishes a mil range, and the USV20 accepts smooth pouches only up to 11 by 10 inches. If Mylar or retort pouches are part of your work, that is a compatibility difference rather than a documentation one.
